Mrs. Suman Sood

Mrs. Suman Sood has been working in the space of Primary and Pre Primary Education since 1990. She has worked as a teacher, curriculum developer, Teacher Facilitator and presently is Director Principal of Mongrace Montessori House, Short Street. She is also coordinating with Mongrace School branches at IIT Kharagpur, New Delhi and Santiniketan.
Mongrace Montessori House has been an integral part of the Kolkata community for over 50 years! Many of the Mongrace parents were once Mongrace students themselves. There is something special and magical about Mongrace that brings families back there every year. Mongrace believes in educating each child holistically to face the challenges of the 21st century.Keeping the Montessori philosophy as a base teachers at Mongrace believe in innovation and do not hesitate to adopt new methodologies. Mongrace became phenomenal by being the first pre school in India to apply for British Council International School Award and also achieve the award. Since then Mongrace has collaborated with various schools aross the world and teachers share effective teaching practices.
Suman has co authored sets of History and Civics books ,published by Pearson. A recipient of Intel National Award and Vidya Mandir Society Award for best integration of technology into education, E-Pal Teacher Ambassador – 2010 ( Learning Management System ),she did an Action Plan Research on how technology can help to develop language of preschool children and got Global Teacher Award for this. Organized various Global Exchange programmes for cultural awareness, in collaboration with Environment Manager – Ms Tamar Hurwitz of San Francisco SF Environment. Has presented research papers in conferences and seminars on how technology helps in language development of pre school children Her paper on Technology for children; How far and how much was published in ECCE Journal released in 1st Telegana Conference in DPS Nacharam, HyderabadWhile working in a variety of socio economic settings, such as British Council School Ambassador, President of Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan East and representative of pre school sector in BCC&I Education Task Force,she is dedicated and committed to early childhood education!
As Territory head of Early Childhood Education Kolkata Chapter Suman believes that the years before a child enters formal education are important and irreplaceable in terms of overall development. He visualizes our nation to be a place where High-quality programs for the very young would be regarded as an immediate necessity, not as a distant goal to be addressed after other goals are achieved.
