ABOUT SILVERLINING

SILVERLINING which literally means "A RAY OF HOPE" is committed to bring about Transformation in the Lives of those living in Slum/villages and belonging to underprivileged section of society. Silverlining is a non-profit NGO that specializes in the education and empowerment of under-privileged children, youth and women through working with them at an individual level. Based in Uttrakhand its programs include schools, remedial education, computer training, adult literacy, skills training, and social entrepreneurship. SILVERLINING was Founded in the year 2017 by two young and passionate individuals Ms Kanika Vijan and Mr. Ajay Singh . What came as a Spiritual Inspiration gradually began to take the shape of a School and several Community Development Programs. In a very short span Silver lining caters to the Educational needs of more than 45 underprivileged children in Dehradun.

Our Mission
- To educate the under-privileged section of the society through integrated learning methods and advance technology.
- To build a platform for children belonging from underprivileged section of society and Slums to get quality education and proper mental development to maintain the equality in our education system.
- Empowering under-privileged women with basic awareness for their rights, providing them (specific) skills and creation of Self Help Group for better economic opportunities.

ABOUT KITES

KITES PRE and REMEDIAL SCHOOL (A unit of Silver Linimg Society) is a type of school which aims at providing quality education free of cost to kids belonging from lower, economically backward and under-privileged section of society.
It is a school where every kid experiences the love and worth of well-trained teacher who firmly believe that every child is special. Situated at Shakti Vihar,Dehradun, the School provides FREE EDUCATION, Books, Bags, Uniform, Stationery, Art & Craft Material and School Shoes to Children from Slum Areas. The School caters to the Educational needs of Children with a Household income of less than Rs.10000 per month (150USD).
At KITES – The Children of widows, maids, cooks, drivers and even School dropouts are taught Computers, Yoga, Art Craft, English, Science, EVS, Math’s, Hindi, Sanskrit and Dances. Emphasis is given to Value Education, Pragmatic and Life skills.
We also run special Classes for Slum Children who are either School Drop-outs or attend village schools which woefully lack infrastructure. School was led by Ms Kanika Vijan and ably supported by Mr. Ajay Singh, they managed all the planing, scheduling, transportation & distribution of kits and also all the finances and accounts related to the school/project.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT KITES –
- Project was started during the academic year 2017-18 in a rented place at majra dehradun.
- Complete school kit (school dress, shoes, id cards, books, stationary) were provided to 20 student who are enrolled in Kites Pre School.
- Note books and stationary were provided to 25 student who are enrolled in Kites Remedial School.
- More than 45 student benefited through our project during the last 4 month.(june2017- sept 2017)
WE PLANNED TO CONTINUE OUR PROJECT THIS ACADEMIC YEAR (2017-18) WITH AN AIM TO SUPPORT AT LEAST 100 STUDENT.
